Mountain Climbing Extended Trip

During each session, all the campers leave for an extended trip of their choice, and a trip to climb one or two of Colorado's 14ers is typically one of the options. Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive, which are the two tallest and also some of the easier 14ers to climb, are typical destinations for this trip. Sometimes this trip is combined with the caving trip and the campers will have the option of climbing a 14er and exploring a cave. During this trip campers learn the necessary skills for extended camping in the outdoors, the importance of good conservation practices, and protecting our environment. Campers will not only gain an increased appreciation for the beauty of the high mountain country, but also an increased self-confidence.
