We believe that a summer in Colorado is
an excellent environment for your child. Today, young boys and
girls often reflect the pressures of modern day life. Our location,
program, and size allow us to provide a feeling of tranquility
in the wilderness. Our limited enrollment allows us to offer each
camper an opportunity for growth and development based on individual
needs.
Anderson Western Colorado Camps, Ltd. is not just another
camp. It is a camp for boys and girls who are looking for an
outstanding summer camping experience that is not offered at
normal summer camp. We are looking for young men and women who
want to lead an active life.
Parents Visitation
Parents are welcome to visit camp the day before the end of
the session at our barbeque and Closing Program. We do not
recommend parents visit their children during the session. Calls to
and from campers are allowed only in an emergency or on your
child's birthday. Because of the number of people at the camp, we
must request no other personal calls to campers. Please feel free,
however, to call our administrative staff if you have any questions.
Mail
Campers love getting mail from home, even if it's just to
say "Hi". We also welcome emails, which should be addressed to
campers@andersoncamps.com with the camper's name as the
subject. Care packages are always a welcome appearance. The Camp
Store does, however, sell some sweets for campers; please limit
food items in packages. All mail will be delivered after lunch
on the day received, or immediately following a trip.

Parent Updates
We strive to keep parents well informed of their child's
camp experience. Each camper's counselor writes personal
reports on the activities and events of camp. These reports
detail the activities and trips in which your child has
participated, include comments on the camper's adjustment to
camp life, and provide insight into camp experiences and
camper growth. Daily updates on our website include pictures
of activities, trips, and events, and allow parents to share
in their camper's experience. Pictures remain online until
the start of the next summer, allowing campers to revisit
their summer memories.
Transportation
We encourage parents to accompany campers on opening
day. If this is not possible, camp representatives will meet
campers arriving by airplane in Denver between 8 AM and 1 PM.
Camp representatives will accompany campers to and from camp in
camp vans, at parent's expense. Vans depart camp on closing
day in time to meet airplane flights leaving Denver after 11 AM,
and before 3 PM.
Health and Safety
Every effort is made to keep campers free from illness
and accident. In the event of sickness, a trained nurse is on
duty in our camp infirmary, and doctors are on call 24 hours a
day. There is also a fully staffed hospital in Glenwood Springs,
thirty minutes from the camp.
Camp Store
The camp operates a store where campers can buy camp
accessories, some camping equipment, personal articles, fishing
equipment, and limited sweets. Please limit food items in care
packages.
Clothing
Camp is a good place for old clothes! Old clothes don't
mind climbing mountains, hiking through meadows, or whitewater
river rafting. Because the camp is located at 6,300 feet above
sea level, the nights are cool while the days are warm. Include
light jackets, ponchos, wool socks, long sleeve shirts, and adequate
sleeping bags. A complete outfit/equipment list will be sent with
our pre-camp mailing, and is available
on our website.
